I repeated the heron shots again and finally the bird stood where I wanted him, above the camera. Maybe tomorrow I will get a blue sky. The only point in photographing the heron every day, regardless of the weather, is to get the bird used to the camera being there. I was firing the camera by remote control, but it was unreliable so now I leave it running, taking one picture every half a second. It never fills up the 64GB SD card before the battery goes dead after about 2 hours. By that time the heron is full of the fish I am providing and loses interest.
I am in and out of the picture changing things around more often than the heron.
