Green sandpiper

Mike Lane FRPS

There are not many puddles left after this dry, hot spell of weather so I set my hide up at the only one left on my patch. I was after linnets and Goldfinch, but within 5 seconds of entering the hide a Green sandpiper landed. They are normally very wary of temporary hides so I was surprised it stayed for about 2 minutes. I mentally urged it to step out into the water away from the bank, but it resisted.  Canon EOS 1dx, 800mm lens, 1/100th at f11. 800 iso.
