Many additional
sites added from previous edition
Britain is not an easy
place to photograph wildlife. Apart from the unreliability
of the weather, our birds and mammals are not very approachable on the
whole.
However, there are certain
places where our wildlife can be photographed with relative ease. Some
of these are well known, such as the Bass Rock, but others are kept
secret by a few in the know.
Dipper
This book aims to show you some of these
locations. It is not a guide to where wildlife can be seen, there are
plenty of those already, especially for birds. It concentrates purely on
sites where photographs are possible without the need for extensive
fieldwork.
Some of the sites require the use of a car as a hide, an
invaluable method of photographing wildlife. Others need to be
approached on foot.
In most cases wildlife is exactly that, wild and free.
There can never be a guarantee of a subject being present or in a
co-operative mood. Patience and persistence may still be required, but
that is what wildlife photography is all about.
